XAUUSD daily chart with Gann Square of 9 levels and sidereal planetary positions for October 13 2026

Key Takeaways

  • Gold closed at $4,219.0 on Monday, October 13, recovering +0.56% after Friday’s +1.36% impulse — the metal is coiled inside a $4,150–$4,242 range that has now held for five consecutive sessions.
  • Venus is retrograde at 12°20’ Libra in Swati nakshatra (lord: Rahu). Venus rules valuation extremes; a retrograde Venus in a Rahu-ruled nakshatra is historically a mean-reversion signature, not a trend signature. Expect false breakouts.
  • Mars at 14°25’ Cancer in Pushya (lord: Saturn) is the week’s volatility engine. Mars in a Saturn-ruled nakshatra tends to deliver sharp, short-lived spikes that fail to hold — a classic liquidity-sweep pattern.
  • Gann Square of 9 places the pivot at $4,200, with the next rotational resistance at $4,242 and structural support at $4,128. A daily close outside this band is the only signal that matters.
  • Moon transits Vishakha (Libra) today, then shifts into Scorpio — a bearish gold Moon sign in our historical sample. Combined with Venus retrograde, the path of least resistance into midweek is lower, but only to the $4,150 shelf.

This Week’s Planetary Weather

Let’s start with the ephemeris, because that is the only ground truth we trade from. Here is the sidereal snapshot for Tuesday, October 13, 2026:

PlanetPositionNakshatraNakshatra LordMarket Rulership
Sun25°39’ VirgoChitraMarsGold (primary)
Moon25°31’ LibraVishakhaJupiterShort-term sentiment
Mars14°25’ CancerPushyaSaturnSudden volatility
Mercury20°38’ LibraVishakhaJupiterNoise / order flow
Jupiter27°26’ CancerAshleshaMercuryLiquidity / expansion
Venus12°20’ Libra (Rx)SwatiRahuValuation extremes
Saturn16°23’ Pisces (Rx)Uttara BhadrapadaSaturnResistance / pressure
Rahu2°50’ Aquarius (Rx)DhanishtaMarsDisruption
Ketu2°50’ LeoMaghaKetuDetachment / reversals

Read this carefully, because there are three distinct stories here.

Story one: the Sun is in Chitra, ruled by Mars. The Sun rules gold. When the Sun occupies a Mars-ruled nakshatra, the metal’s own dispositor is a planet of aggression and sudden movement. That does not automatically mean up — it means fast and violent. Chitra is the nakshatra of the architect, the craftsman who builds something brilliant and then, sometimes, smashes it to rebuild. Gold traders should expect craftsmanship in the form of precise liquidity sweeps, not smooth trends.

Story two: Venus is retrograde in Swati. This is the headline. Venus is the planet of valuation, of what things are worth relative to each other. When Venus retrogrades, the market’s collective assessment of value goes back for review. And Swati is ruled by Rahu — the point of amplification, obsession, and distortion. A retrograde Venus in a Rahu nakshatra is the textbook signature of valuation distortion: prices that look extended, then look cheap, then look extended again, all within days. This is why I expect false breakouts this week rather than clean continuation.

Story three: Mars is in Pushya, ruled by Saturn — and Saturn is retrograde in Uttara Bhadrapada, ruled by Saturn. This is a double Saturn signature on the volatility planet. Mars in Pushya does not produce sustained trends; it produces pressured moves that exhaust themselves. Add a retrograde Saturn (the planet of resistance) and you get a week where every rally meets a seller and every selloff meets a buyer. Range, not trend.

One more note: Mercury at 20°38’ Libra sits in the same Vishakha nakshatra as the Moon today. Mercury rules short-term noise and order flow. When Mercury and the Moon share a nakshatra, intraday whipsaws get amplified — the tape will lie to you more than usual this week. Trade the closes, not the wicks.

Gann Levels — Square of 9

We anchor our Gann work on the $4,200 pivot, which is both a psychological round number and the center of the last five sessions’ value area. Here is the Square of 9 rotational grid derived from that anchor:

RotationDegreeLevelType
+2720°$4,284Major R2
+1.5540°$4,263R1.5
+1360°$4,242R1 (last week’s high)
+0.5180°$4,221Minor R
00°$4,200Pivot
−0.5180°$4,179Minor S
−1360°$4,158S1
−1.5540°$4,137S1.5
−2720°$4,128S2 (structural)

Cross-reference this against the actual tape:

  • $4,242.3 — Friday’s high. This is R1 to the dollar. It has already rejected price once.
  • $4,219.8 — Monday’s high, and the close at $4,219.0. Price is pinned just under the $4,221 minor resistance.
  • $4,173.7 — Monday’s low, sitting almost exactly on the $4,179 minor support cluster (the $4,173–$4,179 zone).
  • $4,128.1 — October 8’s low. This is our S2 structural floor, and it held on a -1.29% down day on October 7.

The Gann geometry is telling us something simple: gold is range-bound between $4,128 and $4,242, with a tight inner band of $4,158–$4,221. The last five closes — $4,156.8, $4,187.1, $4,140.7, $4,157.0, $4,216.3, $4,190.6, $4,219.0 — are oscillating through that inner band with no directional commitment. That is exactly what a retrograde Venus plus a Saturn-ruled Mars produces.

Moon Sign Changes and Gold Correlation

Our internal sample of Moon-sign transitions against XAUUSD daily returns gives us a useful tilt for the week ahead.

Moon SignHistorical Gold BiasNotes
LibraNeutral to slightly bullishBalance-seeking; fades extremes
ScorpioBearishFixed water; liquidation pressure
SagittariusBullishJupiter-ruled; expansion, risk-on
CapricornBearishSaturn-ruled; grinding pressure

The Moon is at 25°31’ Libra in Vishakha today. Vishakha is ruled by Jupiter — the liquidity planet — which explains why Monday’s session closed strong at the highs rather than fading. Jupiter-ruled Moon nakshatras tend to support buy-the-dip behavior.

But the Moon moves roughly 13° per day. Within this week it will leave Libra and enter Scorpio, the sign that historically produces the most reliable bearish tilt for gold in our sample. Scorpio is fixed water: it does not negotiate, it liquidates. Expect the midweek session — likely Wednesday into Thursday — to carry the heaviest downside risk.

Then, later in the week, the Moon enters Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, our most bullish gold Moon sign. That is where I want to be a buyer again.

So the sequence to trade is: Libra (neutral, now) → Scorpio (bearish, midweek) → Sagittarius (bullish, late week). That maps cleanly onto a sell-the-rip, buy-the-flush week.

Scenario Analysis

Bull Scenario — “The $4,242 Break”

For bulls to take control, gold needs a daily close above $4,242.3 (Friday’s high and Gann R1). That would put the $4,263 and $4,284 rotations in play.

What would drive it? A Jupiter-ruled Moon nakshatra (Vishakha today, then Sagittarius later in the week) combined with a Mercury-Vishakha order-flow bid. Note that Jupiter at 27°26’ Cancer in Ashlesha is the slow-moving liquidity backdrop — it is not fighting gold here.

  • Trigger: Daily close > $4,242
  • Target 1: $4,263 (R1.5)
  • Target 2: $4,284 (R2)
  • Invalidation: Close back below $4,221 within 48 hours

Probability: 35%. Venus retrograde makes clean breakouts unreliable, so treat this as the lower-probability path despite the bullish Jupiter Moon backdrop.

Bear Scenario — “The Scorpio Flush”

For bears, the setup is a rejection at $4,221–$4,242 followed by a break of the $4,173–$4,179 minor support cluster. That opens the $4,158 S1 and then the $4,137 S1.5.

What would drive it? The Moon moving into Scorpio, plus Mars in Pushya (Saturn-ruled) delivering a pressured, exhausting selloff. Venus retrograde in Rahu-ruled Swati amplifies the downside distortion — prices will overshoot to the downside just as easily as they overshot to the upside on Friday.

  • Trigger: Daily close < $4,173
  • Target 1: $4,158 (S1)
  • Target 2: $4,137 (S1.5)
  • Target 3: $4,128 (S2 structural — expect a hard bounce)
  • Invalidation: Close back above $4,200

Probability: 50%. This is the highest-probability path given the Scorpio Moon transit midweek and the Mars-in-Pushya volatility signature.

Chop Scenario — “The Venus Retrograde Trap”

The remaining 15% is pure range. Gold continues to oscillate between $4,158 and $4,221, closing each session inside the band, frustrating both sides. This is the most dangerous scenario for directional traders and the most profitable for mean-reversion scalpers. If we see two consecutive closes inside $4,179–$4,221 with no expansion, assume chop and reduce size.

Trade Plan

Here is how I am positioning the QuantEA Labs book this week. All levels are XAUUSD spot-equivalent.

Bias: Neutral-to-bearish into midweek, flipping bullish late week.

Trade 1 — Short the rip (primary).

  • Entry zone: $4,221 – $4,238 (scale in on approach to Gann R1)
  • Stop: $4,248 (above R1, structural invalidation)
  • Target 1: $4,179 (minor support)
  • Target 2: $4,158 (S1)
  • Target 3: $4,137 (S1.5)
  • R:R: ~2.4:1 on T2
  • Timing: Best executed Tuesday–Wednesday, into the Scorpio Moon shift

Trade 2 — Buy the flush (secondary).

  • Entry zone: $4,128 – $4,140 (S2 structural cluster)
  • Stop: $4,108 (below the October 7 low)
  • Target 1: $4,179
  • Target 2: $4,221
  • Target 3: $4,242
  • R:R: ~3.1:1 on T2
  • Timing: Best executed Thursday–Friday, into the Sagittarius Moon shift

Trade 3 — Breakout continuation (conditional).

  • Only if we get a daily close above $4,242.3.
  • Entry: $4,246 on the close confirmation
  • Stop: $4,218
  • Target: $4,284
  • R:R: ~1.4:1 — acceptable but not exceptional; size down.

Position sizing: Given the Venus retrograde distortion and the Mercury-Moon shared nakshatra noise, I am running 60% of normal size on all intraday entries and 80% on swing entries. The tape is going to lie this week. Smaller size is not cowardice; it is respect for the ephemeris.

Risk Notes

A few things that can invalidate everything above:

  1. A surprise macro print. We are range-bound because the market is waiting. Any high-impact US data release can break the $4,128–$4,242 band violently. Do not hold full-size positions through releases.

  2. Rahu in Dhanishta, ruled by Mars. Rahu is the planet of disruption, and it is sitting in a Mars-ruled nakshatra. This is a background signature for unexpected headlines — geopolitical, central bank, or otherwise. Rahu does not announce itself; it ambushes.

  3. Ketu in Magha. Ketu is detachment and reversal. Ketu transits frequently mark turning points where the market abandons a narrative it has held for weeks. If gold has been “obviously bullish” to the crowd, Ketu is the planet that makes the crowd wrong.

  4. Venus retrograde does not end this week. Valuation distortion persists. Any level I have given you can be overshot by 0.5–1% in either direction before reverting. Use limit orders, not market orders, at the extremes.

  5. Saturn retrograde in Uttara Bhadrapada. Saturn is the resistance planet, and it is retrograde in its own nakshatra. This reinforces the “range” thesis — Saturn retrograde tends to cap upside momentum and cushion downside panic. It is a volatility dampener, not a trend driver.

  6. Nakshatra lord conflicts. Note that Mars (volatility) is in a Saturn-ruled nakshatra, and Saturn (resistance) is in its own nakshatra. Two planets pulling in the same slow, pressured direction. This is not a week for chasing breakouts.

The Bottom Line

Gold at $4,219 is sitting just under Gann R1 at $4,242, with a retrograde Venus distorting valuation, a Saturn-ruled Mars injecting pressured volatility, and a Moon about to shift from neutral Libra into bearish Scorpio. The highest-probability path is a rejection at $4,221–$4,242 down to the $4,158–$4,137 shelf, followed by a Sagittarius-Moon-driven bounce from the $4,128 structural floor late in the week.

Trade the range. Respect the closes. Size down. And remember: when Venus is retrograde, the market does not know what gold is worth — so neither should your position size pretend to.
